Labiaplasty – A Womans’ Choice.
Postoperative expectations should be discussed between the patient and the surgeon
The decision to undergo labiaplasty is an intimate one, which requires an informed opinion on the part of the prospective patient. Urogynecologists Dr. John R. Miklos and Dr. Robert D. Moore (who also specialize in repairing botched or unsatisfactory labiaplasties) started noticing a pattern amongst patients who were seeing them for second or third opinions: other surgeons they had seen would essentially state to them what look they desired post operatively, rather than asking them what they were seeking. The patients told Drs. Miklos and Moore that other consultants would make statements such as: “I know what you need,” “I know what you are looking for,” and “I’ve done this many times before and you will be happy with the outcome.” These consulting surgeons never really asked the patient what they were looking for in terms of vaginal cosmetic results of labia minora reduction surgery.
Laparoscopic surgical specialists Drs.’ Miklos and Moore of Beverly Hills, CA had a very rewarding day as they were able to perform two Laparoscopic Davydov Neovagina Procedures in two very grateful patients within one afternoon.
Neovagina techniques have been in existence for more than 100 years and are used to create functional full-length vagina in patients who are born without a vagina or a shortened vagina. This condition is known as vaginal agenesis and is most commonly associated with other conditions known as MRKH syndrome or congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
