7 Surgeries, 4 patients that traveled to Atlanta, 2 Sacral Colpopexy and Paravaginal Repairs
October 18, 2010 – Dr. Miklos & Dr. Moore have 7 patients for surgery, 4 of which have traveled to Atlanta from Costa Rica, New York, South Carolina and Tennessee. Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore continue to be the leaders in their field. Patients come from all over the world knowing they are getting the best care when they travel to Atlanta.
The patients from New York (Dr. Moore) and Tennessee (Dr. Miklos) are having laparoscopic sacral colpopexies and paravaginal repairs. Drs. Miklos and Moore have been performing the laparoscopic sacral colpopexy in the same manner as an open procedure with the exception of using a laparoscope over the past 5 years. They have the largest series of laparoscopic sacralcolpopexies ever published in the world.
Both New York and Tennessee patients, had previous paravaginal repairs that failed. Paravaginal defects and dropping of the bladder (cystocele) occurs when the anterior vaginal wall that supports the bladder tears away from its attachment to the pelvic side wall. It can be repaired by utilizing sutures to fix the tears or defects, thus restoring support to the bladder and removing the bladder drop or cystocele. The patient from New York paravaginal repair failed just 6 weeks after her surgery. She has told both Dr. Moore and Dr. Miklos, that she realizes if they cannot repair her… then no–one can!
