Mesh Complication Discussion Board

Mesh DiscussionDr. Miklos and Dr. Moore recently started a discussion board addressing complications of vaginal mesh for treatment of prolapse and urinary incontinence.

This discussion board was designed as a tool for women that suffer from mesh complications to hear from other women that they are not alone. Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore will also be available to provide feedback to any questions or concerns that might be asked during these discussions.

The true concern is that women are suffering in silence. Many women are told that there is no treatment for their pain associated with the mesh… this is not the case. The truth is, experts in pelvic surgery should be able to handle and treat those complications… or send the patient to someone who does have that expertise.

Drs. Miklos and Moore are two leading pioneers for the use of vaginal mesh in the United States. Dr. Miklos was one of the first surgeons in the US to perform and teach the TVT sling, while Dr. Moore was one of the first surgeons to perform and teach the TOT and Mini Sling technique. Together they recently published the largest series in the world with the use of a Type I mesh for Laparoscopic Sacralcolpopexies for vaginal vault prolapse. Overall complication rate was <1% with mesh extrusions <2%.
