Dr. Miklos's Unprecedented Surgical Training
Dr. Miklos started his medical career by attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Upon completion of medical school he did his expected 4 year residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Philadelphia from 1989 -1993. Unlike most of his colleagues who then go into private practice, Dr. Miklos being unhappy with the thoroughness of his surgical training chose an alternative route. Dr. Miklos decided to pursue a two-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Vaginal Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1993-1995.
Upon completion of the two-year surgical subspecialty training, Dr. Miklos did what most fellowship trained urogynecologists do and that was to pursue a practice in female urologic and gynecologic care. During his first year in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Miklos sought out two outstanding and world renowned surgeons: Dr. William B. Saye, the first surgeon in the USA and arguably the world who performed the first laparoscopic gallbladder removal, and A. Cullen Richardson, MD, considered the world's foremost authority on female pelvic anatomy. To Dr. Miklos's surprise he found that the Dr. Saye & Richardson were collaborating on laparoscopic surgical technique in the repair of the female pelvic floor (i.e. reconstructive vaginal surgery). Through persistence and perseverance Dr. Miklos persuaded Dr. Saye to allow Dr. Miklos matriculate into his second two-year surgical fellowship in minimally invasive reconstructive vaginal surgery. Dr. Miklos credits Dr. Saye & Richardson and this fellowship with giving him his unprecedented surgical training. It is this additional training that has set Dr. Miklos apart from thousands of other gynecologists and urogynecologists and has made Dr. Miklos one of the most desired laparoscopic reconstructive vaginal surgeons in the world.
