Miklos and Moore World Surgical Tour 2011 - Australia

Dr. Miklos and Moore were invited by the Australia/Asian Gyn Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery Society to be the Featured Visiting International Guest Surgeons and Professors at their annual meeting this year, which was held in Adelaide, Australia June 3rd-6th. Surgeons from throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia attend this annual meeting to learn about the latest research and techniques in the field of Urogynecology and Vaginal Reconstruction.

Dr. Moore first travelled to Auckland, New Zealand to teach and operate earlier in the week and then met up with Dr. Miklos in Australia. The opening day of the meeting Dr. Moore led a Symposium on Vaginal Mesh with Professor Alan Lam (past president of the AGES society) from Sydney, Australia, and Professor Ajay Rane from James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. Dr. Lam is considered the top Laparoscopic Pelvic Floor surgeon in Australia and Dr. Rane the top vaginal mesh surgeon. Both have known and worked with Dr. Miklos and Moore for many years.

Friday saw Dr. Miklos being featured as the Top Billing of the meeting where he operated and performed a live Laparoscopic Sacralcolpopexy in under an hour. The attendees gave him a standing ovation!! Dr. Moore moderated live surgery that day for over 6 hours. The two were then honored at the annual awards dinner and given Honorary AGES Gifts and Awards for their work in the field.

Saturday they were the featured speakers of the day and lectured on Laparoscopic Uterine Suspension, Laparoscopic Sacralcolpopexy, Neovagina techniques, Fistula repair and finished the meeting lecturing on Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery… the first lecture on this topic ever given at an AGES meeting. Dr. Robert O’shea (AGES meeting chair) another one of Australia’s leading Laparoscopic Gyn Surgeons hosted Dr. Miklos and Moore at a dinner at his house where they enjoyed fine Australian cuisine and wine!!

Dr. Miklos and Moore left very early Sunday morning for the long flight to Russia… the next stop on their 2011 World Tour!! Many surgeons/attendees had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Miklos and Moore’s presence at the meeting including “best meeting in years thanks to them”, “amazing breadth of knowledge and experience”, “they have and continue to represent cutting edge in our field”, “heard they were coming and had to come see them!”. Professor Alan Lam was quoted “Dr. Miklos and Moore are nothing but a class act… there is no team like them in the world today”…this was an ultimate compliment coming from a surgeon they respect greatly!
