Miklos and Moore Acting as Co-Chairs of the 4th Annual World Congress of the International Society of Cosmetogynecology

On January 12, 2011, Dr. John R. Miklos and Dr. Robert D. Moore will participate as co-chairs of the 4th Annual World Congress of the International Society of Cosmetogynecology along with Dr. David Matlock (Beverly Hills, Dr. 90210) and Keynote speakers, Marco A. Pelosi II, MD and Marco A. Pelosi III, MD. This congress, is in conjunction with The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery 27th Annual Scientific Meeting held in Phoenix, Arizona. The congress will feature the rapidly growing field of cosmetic vaginal surgery, with presentations given by medical professionals from around the world.
Dr. Miklos has been asked to present on the Prevention & Mangement of Botched Labiaplasty Surgery. The topic of discussion and the basis of the lecture is timely considering the rapid increase in the number of patients requesting and undergoing cosmetic vaginal surgery.
Dr. Miklos' lecture is directed at both the consumer (ie patient) and the surgeon. The goal of his lecture is point out to that an educated patient and an educated surgeon will reduce unsatisfactory (botched) results and thus the need for unnecessary secondary surgeries. Unsatisfactory results can include: passive surgical results where not enough labia has been removed, overly aggressive surgery leaving the patient completely without labia minora, and uneven or asymmetrical labia minora.
Patients should choose her surgeon wisely, based on experience, expertise and surgical results. A failure to do so may result in a patient with unsatisfactory results often termed botched labiaplasty. A surgeon should have a thorough understanding of the patients' postoperative expectations and should not perform surgeries unless they have superior experience and expertise. Patients and surgeons compliance to these responsibilities should help to prevent or minimize botched labiaplasty surgery.
Dr. Moore is lecturing on the latest research and data regarding the science behind vaginal rejuvenation surgery and the improvement in sexual function following repair. Dr. Moore will present the latest data supporting the procedures, how to prevent complications as well as present his and Dr Miklos' latest scientific study, which is the first study in the world to use, validated sexual function questionnaires. He will also lecture on the treatment of Urinary Leakage at the time of vaginal rejuvenation surgery. Many women also suffer from this problem secondary to damage caused by childbirth and most centers do not treat this problem at the time of vaginal rejuvenation surgery. Dr. Moore and Miklos are world leaders in minimally invasive Urogynecology procedures including the new Mini-sling procedure for female SUI that can be completed under local anesthesia as an outpatient and completed at the same time of LVR surgery. Dr. Moore and Miklos have helped bring this technology to the US and published some of the first studies and data in the world.
Master surgeons, Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore continue to successfully contribute as pioneers to the International Society of Cosmetogynecology. Dr. Miklos and Moore's accomplishments are well recognized by their peers. Their success has been internationally notated in the operating room and classroom, with Phoenix being just the start of their 2011 year with Australia and Moscow to follow.
