Drs. Miklos and Moore Respond to FDA Mesh Safety Communication
Drs. Miklos and Moore have written a response to the FDA Safety Communication released on July 13, 2011, regarding the usage of synthetic mesh materials for the repair of pelvic organ prolapse. While the FDA has neither taken the mesh off the market nor called for a recall, they did state that a variety of complications have been reported by patients and surgeons alike, and wish to make this fact known to surgeons and patients alike.

Mesh Complication Discussion Board
Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore recently started a discussion board addressing complications of vaginal mesh for treatment of prolapse and urinary incontinence.
This discussion board was designed as a tool for women that suffer from mesh complications to hear from other women that they are not alone. Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore will also be available to provide feedback to any questions or concerns that might be asked during these discussions.

Patient from Macon, Georgia came to see Dr. Miklos with a Sparc (TVT-type) sling – Mesh Complication and Neovagina Surgery.
Dr. Miklos had a recent patient that showed symptoms of pain at the urethra, pain with intercourse at urethra, urgency, frequency and difficulty emptying bladder x 6 months.
This patient is a 57 year old who presented with complaints of bladder spasms, difficulty emptying her bladder, urgency, frequency, shortened vagina, urine leakage and painful intercourse for 2 years. She claims these symptoms developed after having surgery in June 2010.

Drs. Miklos and Moore Receive Cooper Surgical Spotlight Award
Earlier this year Dr Robert Moore and Dr John Miklos were awarded the Cooper Surgical Spotlight Award for their surgical expertise and advancing education in Gynecologic Surgery. The Spotlight Awards program, sponsored by Cooper Surgical, is designed to honor surgeons for advancing surgical education for their peers. The program provides an opportunity for surgeons to share their best practices while helping educate other physicians to perfect their techniques. This year Cooper Surgical gave out 4 Spotlight Awards worldwide and Dr Moore and Miklos actually won 2 of the 4 awards for their work with the MiniArc Mini Sling and vaginal repair of prolapse with the Anterior Elevate procedure.

Drs. Miklos and Moore completed live telesurgery today at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA on two women that was broadcast LIVE on the internet throughout the world. They were asked by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and their sister organization, SurgeryU, to host the first ever live surgical event for the new monthly series that will feature top surgeons from all over the world.

Dr. Moore and Dr. Miklos return to Dubai
On February 26th, world renowned vaginal reconstructive surgeons, Dr Moore and Miklos traveled to Dubai for the second time to Chair an International Program in Medicine on Laparoscopic Urogynecology. They were invited back by the Royal College secondary to their reputations as being two of the top vaginal reconstructive surgeons in the world.
